I am working for the Census. This is fascinating since my training class was a cultural experience and now my Address Area is a weird pocket of white humanity in a black area. Why? A unique structure that guarantees stagnation! I think social scientist have studied this but wow ( Read more... )

I worked the census too... I was chosen as a crew leader and had to do the training for my crew and those who couldn't attend the training given by their own crew leaders. I had 35 students that week... My crew area was a semirural area about 10 x 15 miles and we had about 1500 homes to visit. The local census office (for 5 counties) was near so I spent a lot of time (OT) helping out reviewing questionnaires in the office too.

I enjoyed my time and especially liked helping find addresses my crew members couldn't. When we finished our area, I helped a neighboring area that was about 30x30 miles and lots of driving... when it was all over, we received a report that our census office finished first in the whole nation... (must've been all that OT we worked)

And to think that I used to drive all those roads for free just to take rides in the country... but this time I could visit many private places I could earlier visit only on maps.

Peace
