Endings

I have never been good at writing endings. I realize this now as I struggle to come up with a compelling idea for my own self-imposed art assignment which is based on the prompt: ENDINGS/CLOSURE

it is difficult to be done? i can't tell when things are over (thinking of writing, mostly, but a wealth of things, yes). they just must stop somewhere. i like a stop better than an ending. i often wish students would not write endings to stories--too abrupt, & they often attempt to summarize like you would in an essay, and it ruins whatever good work they did. most things don't end, really, in life. there are always aftershocks, and reminders... maybe there was an end, but it was a stop, like a car at a sign, & then keep going. & course we just roll through, too, the california way ;)
