Useless blabbing about XXX lyrics and PV (part 1)
Sometimes I feel the need to say something, even if not particularly new or interesting.
This is the case.

Everybody Original Sin
First thing I need to say is what is original sin. Then how (I think) Laruku dealt with it.
15 The LORD God then took the man and settled him in the garden of Eden, to cultivate and care for it.
16 The LORD God gave man this order: "You are free to eat from any of the trees of the garden
17 except the tree of knowledge of good and bad. From that tree you shall not eat; the moment you eat from it you are surely doomed to die." […]

5 No, God knows well that the moment you eat of it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like gods who know what is good and what is bad."

In the Bible, the original sin is caused by man’s pride, and it consist of man’s desire to become like God. I dare say that neither in the lyrics, nor in the PV I can perceive the presence of God…

Although the biblical episode has nothing to do with lust, the concept of original sin is sometimes associated with sex also in Western society. Maybe because the idea of “temptation” and “sin” is now more linked to lust than to pride? Don’t know >///<
This connection is repeated by Laruku in the lyrics, and Eden (heaven on earth) is associated with a sensual ecstasy, reached through the kiss.
In his interview on LE-CIEL 69, hyde said: “I wanted to follow a line at the very limits of ethic, even if sexy”.
This means that also the theme of “prohibition” has been taken into consideration.
I think he wanted to depict the situation just before committing the “sin”, before going against the “prohibition”. This idea maybe led him to the biblical episode…

Darling, you won’t be able to come back anymore
Given that the image of the butterfly implies a change of condition, (chrysalid’s transformation) I’d like to know if the line “you (or we?) won’t be able to come back (home) anymore” has a positive or negative nuance. Maybe the meaning of the sentence can be: if we drift apart, we won’t be able to come back to our present condition anymore (?) I remain to be convinced, my interpretation fails here >_<
I think I can prove to be more convincing looking for the reason why they named the new album “BUTTERFLY”. Well, I assume that is a reference to the band’s changes after 20 years. I think they want to show how much the band has grown in musical terms. This is what hyde said about XXX: “It’s a song with an atmosphere different from what I’ve made before. I usually think over things I make. When it’s time to make a new song, I start from thinking: “Which kind of song would be cool with L'Arc~en~Ciel this time?”. Of course L'Arc~en~Ciel is a rock band, but it basically can make everything. With programming, and we’ve Yukki, a leader in programming, we can make a great variety of songs. I guess it’s cool, since you can’t do the same with other band”. o(≧∇≦)o

“When I thought of lyrics, I had a sexy image with a feminine feeling. Therefore, I used “…nanone” at the end of lyrics. It’s the first time I’ve used feminine words. L'Arc~en~Ciel has plenty of feminine songs, but it’s the first time I’ve used feminine words as end of sentences on purpose”.
The story of the title (from KISS to XXX - a reference to sex and to the way girls usually end their letters) and the story of the feminine words are everywhere.
I’d like to know more about the so-called “feminine songs” …(^ω^)
