Furuba Pairing Rant
GRAAAAAHHG! I started reading Fruits Basket about four months ago, and right now I'm on volume 13. I just absolutely adore the series and all its characters, and it makes me laugh almost every panel (either that or get overly-emotional and cry). It's probably one of the funniest, most moving things I've read so far. But the only thing is, that I have some (possibly incorrect) notion of what pairings are going to play out, both from rumors and my own personal intuition and...
AND I HATE THEM ALL!!!! DDDDDDD8
I hate Kyo x Tohru. It bothers me and is really the only Tohru pairing I don't like. I pretty much prefer her with ANYONE else and Kyo with ANYONE else. The couple just really turns me off for some reason. I love Tohru x Yuki and Kyo x Kagura, and have since the beginning.
I don't much care for Mayu x Hatori. I'd rather Hatori ended up with Mit-chan, actually. Or maybe even Ayame.
I don't like Yuki x Machi. I'd rather Yuki ended up with Kimi, Tohru, Kakeru, or Ayame. I hate couples where both people are the same. It's boring! DX There's nothing dynamic about it!
I don't care much for Ritsu x Mit-chan... again the reasoning is the same as for the last one. Two people who are exactly the same = no fun at all. Plus... Mit-chan x Shigure, plz?
I am SO happy for Shigure x Akito supposedly becoming canon (damn you people who gave me spoilers XDDDD), because it's the only one I actually like. I liked it from the beginning, and I breathe a sigh of relief every time I think about it.
Also, if Kisa x Hiro becomes canon, I'll jump for joy because they make me squeal as a couple. But Kisa x Momiji is good too, though I don't really see it happening. Or maybe Hiro x Momo? AHG!
My REAL OTP is Ayame x Yuki, and has been ever since I saw them interact for the first time XD I just love it more than anything. I know for a fact that even Takaya isn't weird enough to make it happen, but I long for it deeply. But oh well.
I don't really mind too much that I hate the canon pairings, because I like Furuba for its characters and backstories and everything else, not the pairings. I can always fantasize about different ones happening or write fanfiction, anyway. And I guess I'll come to like the canon ones. Maybe I'll write a novel with a few characters who have personality traits similiar to the Sohmas in question and pair them up with the characters that correspond to the ones that I found to be perfect for them XD Either way, I'll keep reading Furuba because I love it dearly.
And by the way, if I was wrong about the canon pairings, don't tell me which ones really DO become canon *hates spoilers*, but feel free to tell me I'm wrong!
