you can totally make it work if you really want! I always cite as my example my friend Jacob who got together with his girlfriend 5 days before she left the country to live in France for a year, and they managed to stay together the whole time. London has got to be the most accessible place in England, you can get from there to ANYWHERE in about 7 hours, so you can go down there for an occasional weekend and write your essays on the train. of course it's going to be difficult, esp when you've just started a relationship and you want to do nothing but see him, but I bet the excitement and preciousness of the time you spend together will mean that you two keep going long after other pre-uni relationships have fizzled out.
