The definition of brave requires a look at the word courage, which is technically defined as "the state or quality of mind or spirit that enables one to face danger, fear, or vicissitudes with self-possession, confidence, and resolution."
Otherwise known as bravery. The definitions aren't exact everywhere you look, maybe, but the general gist is the same.
Naturally, of course, the things that make a person brave vary person to person, but it's been my experience that facing something that scares you - anything, no matter how minor - and continueing to face it whether or not you are certain in your ability to overcome it is bravery. Not necessarily a headlong confrontation as some might believe, but at least a refusal to allow it to overcome you in turn.
It's generally the standard answer, but thank you. I've just always found that people have different ways of showing their bravery, and occasionally it's, I suppose you could say, quieter than others.

I'm avoiding taking them as often as possible, actually. I'm not in any particular need of them.
