There's a bug with your first link, it leads to your own journal.

The bomber jackets are what struck me the most. They give a heaviness to the characters when they walk into a room - that and the sound of the boots, I guess. It's very impressive imagery (and very sexy as well, but that is another matter).

I read somewhere about the use of "marshal" and "rangers" to avoid military terms and I found that very interesting, even though I didn't think of it when I saw the movie, so I guess it only works once you've read the meta. :-) Still, I appreciate the intent.

I agree with you about the steampunk. I saw a steampunk AU picspam on Tumblr and I was a bit baffled because, while the movie is not exactly steampunk, I think it has enough elements that the term "AU" was not necessary there.

Gah! Thanks for pointing it out. I think I hit cut instead of copy when I pasted it elsewhere. Let's hope I actually did paste it. It should be fixed now ( ... )

Oh, I've actually read this article before. I especially liked the part about the Russians and how the wife was all over the husband in the mess hall, because I hadn't noticed that the first time I saw the movie, but I definitely paid attention the second time and it made me smile. ^_^

Yesyesyes, the opening suit-up was so hot. But there's also Chuck in his badass jacket walking Max in the Shatterdome. I know I'm easy. And the Russians look badass in their big coats. We don't see much of the triplets, unfortunately.

Yeah, I'm not much into steampunk myself, and it's a good thing it's not exactly steampunk because what they do in this movie works for me where steampunk usually doesn't, but I can still see that it's kind of related.
