nope ... its an attempt to make it easy to take care of the wishing ... at least in my opinion ... id rather take each person individually, and yes i know its lj ... but happy holidays is to me one of the greatest examples of how cconglomerized our culture has become
But in certain setting wheres its stricktly impossible to provide thos "personalized greetings" Isnt it better to try a more all inclusive approach?
It seems that anything more specific should be left for specific people to say to specific others.
but IDK, grandma always said "you should never take the christ out of christmas." ...which has more to do with "x-mas" than happy holidays, but u get the idea.
it was not my intention to offend ... my only point is that no matter what the holiday our culture has commercialized this time of year so to some it is only an excuse for presents ... it was not meant as a put down but i do know several people who do not believe in any particular faith who still celebrate the holidays, and if its for another reason than presents more power, but for some that is the reason. Basically it was a response to ammerican commercialization of the hoidays, nothing else.
