Dead Zone is pretty cool. I forget what channel or time it's on. It's probably cable. However, I know you can rent them. They're on the fourth or fifth currently so if you want to understand what's going on in current episodes it might be best just to rent them.
I don't know what your musical tastes are, but I'd highly recommend checking out Bloc Party, Hot Hot Heat, and Acceptance. Particularly these songs: - Banquet, Helicopter (Bloc Party) - Middle of Nowhere, Goodnight Goodnight (Hot Hot Heat) - Take Cover, Different (Acceptance)
