And today looked so promising...

...but the damn beautician had other ideas apparently. In fact, she was rather clever about it, cutting my hair into a cute hair style and leading me to believe that I'd be able to walk out of the salon without being horrified. But no! She was just saving the butchered of my hair until the last thirty seconds, where she decided that Melissa, the ( Read more... )

Gosh that sucks. I am so sorry. There is nothing worse than having a hair cut you hate. *hugs*

You're telling me... You know, I've had bad hair cuts before, but never one that I cannot style at all. It won't even stay in the ponytail...

(Ignore me and my grumbling...)

How are you today L?

One time my beautician was supposed to simply thin my hair out, instead of grabbing the special scissors for that, she grabbed the plain Jane scissors and chopped an 8 inch section of my hair off. I got more of a cut that day than I bargained for and I’m still growing my hair out. I would invest in some Bobby pins. I have to use about five or six when I wear my hair up. It’s a huge pain in the ass, but it’s either that, or looking like a huge doof with my puppy ears hanging down.

I’m doing well. I got my stitches out today, that was an adventure in itself. I can wear my fuzzy sweats now without fear of popping a stitch!

Ouch! The thinning scissor always freak me out. I love them because they make my hair so much more manageable but it gets me right in the gut when they start using them.

Yeah, bobby pins and scarves. I suppose it will just get some good use out of my scarf collection.

I'm glad you are healing well. Fuzzy sweats are something you certainly deserve... *sigh* I must admit that I don't know how you do it - I would have walked out long ago. I can't wait to hear what you decide to wear... ;D

I would have said something before I left. I have ridiculously thick hair (I am constantly told I have enough for three people) that refuses to do anything and even I know that you don't do a really short layer on top. When I cut my hair short, the shortest layer is never shorter than chin length because it looks silly. I learned that one the hard way when I got a bowl-cut when I was 9.

Anyway, I would have said something to the manager, especially if she did it against your wishes. Sorry that your trip to the salon wasn't what you wanted. *hugs*

I would have if I hadn't been in shock. I had specified very clearly that I could only do long layers and told her no shorter than chin length. She'd just done a lovely job trimming up my daughter's pixie cut and until that final snip she'd been great.

My brain just shut down though. It wasn't until I got in the car that my ability to voice my feelings truly came back.

Thank for the hugs.

*hugs* That was a stupid thing for her to do, all right.

And I second what laralee88 said about hairpins. If nothing else, they'll make it easier to conceal the damage.

Okay, this is scary, not only do we have the same name, but the same type of hair!

I'm so sorry! I wish I could send my hairdresser Kim over to you. She's absolutely precious, and completely understands our unique brand of thick 'n curly. I have to keep my hair super short now, but she did wonders when it was longer, too.

That is my saving grace - my hair grows very fast. It will calm down eventually. :)

It will be fine! I have curly hair so BELIEVE ME I KNOW I KNOW!!! And tight curls that shrink up past my shoulder but stretch down to my behind and I've had to grow out some cuts..

Your hair will settle, not to worry.

Thank you. This isn't my first bad hair cut but it is the first that I really felt I couldn't style. I've had one where the style that you could do I didn't like but never an un-styleable one.

It will just take time. A couple of months and it'll grow enough to be workable, I think. Until then I can just the mom with the really messy hair. :D

Messy hair is cool *whips out shades* As long as you can pull it back, then you're good!

My last haircut...she also shredded my ends :( and it was someone new. My regulars stylist had to lop of 2 inches. I was NOT please.
