exo christmas drabble

Looking forward eagerly to see whom I cannot see…

He presses they keys and a nice melody of tune came out from it. He played diligently with feelings. And as he play, he took side glances to the woman he loved.
It has been two months since Miseok had her accident. It was unexpected. Who could have thought that a fall would lead to her being unable to see?
She nodded her head slightly to show that she was enjoying the music, with a light smile on her pretty face.
Her eyes are open, though she cannot see. And everytime she calls out Baekhyun’s name, the latter would bite his lips to stop himself from crying.
Watching her raising her arms aimlessly, waiting for his hands to take them and whisper to her that he’s already on her side, holding her tight. It broke his heart.
He had already ended his piece and turn to face his beloved. A smile escaped his lips when he found her sleeping soundly on her seat. He carried her in his arms and laid her down their bed.
After cleaning up himself, Baekhyun walked towards their balcony and oversee the sight outside. The sight which his wife would never see, that, he doubts.
He sighed. Lights flashes around and it’s because Christmas is approaching. How he wished for her wife’s sight to comeback. But from what the doctor said, there is 30% chance out of 100%. He raised his mug and sipped on his night decaf coffee.
He misses the times his wife still has her sight.
He missed how those eyes sparkle when she shows emotion. Unlike now, that whenever her face tries to portray a happy expression, her eyes tell the opposite.
He missed her hugs; her warmth on him. Especially when he sat on his piano and then she would hug him from his back, rests her chin on his head while swaying a little, listening to the music he plays.
He misses her homemade coffee.
He misses how she worked the chores and his fail attempts of helping her, specifically cooking.
He misses a lot about her.
He took another sip, while his other arm rests on the railings and inhales the cold night breeze. Sooner or later, snow will come down on earth.
It would be a white Christmas for them; their first time.
Things are different now that, they are in this situation. He tries to be positive about it, but whenever he had his lone time, his worries came rushing in and he can’t help but reminisce and feel regret.
“Baek, let shop for today! Christmas is coming, right?” she said cheerfully one fine morning.
Baekhyun was in the bathroom, and obviously they had just woken up. “Huh? Oh sure. Why not.” He said and then brushed his teeth.
A minute after, he heard rustles and things falling so he rushed out after washing his face only to find his wife on the floor helplessly picking up the utensils.
“Miseok, let me help you.” He said and crouched down to pick up all the things and helped her up.
She was silent. He gave her a look, and it broke him. He should have not looked at her. Her face showing a pained expression while trying to suppress the falling tears.
“Miseok…” he said and hugged her.
Her shoulders shake, she sobbed her hearts out.
“I thought I could make it since it’s been a month’s already Baekhyun.” She said in between tears.
“I want to get used to it, but everytime I fail it brings me down. It discourages me.” She continued.
Baekhyun could only do nothing but rubbed her back in circles to ease and comfort her.
Later that day, they were out. As promised, they went for a Christmas shopping. He describes all the things he sees and she would ask from what she imagines. They bought quiet plenty.
“Can I take a rest?” she asks and he approves.
Once she was in their room, Baekhyun sat on their couch and stares at the Christmas decors they bought. It pained him to know that those entire things would be useless with the fact the she can’t see.
Their Christmas would be useless, if he were to say. All he need is a miracle.
He had finished setting up the decors and smiled in satisfaction, hands on hips, he step back to see the perfection he made.
He took out his phone and takes a picture of it. This would serve a remembrance.
It’s the day before Christmas. And Baekhyun planned so much about this. He was done preparing everything and then he came to annoy out his wife and participate.
He wanted to resume things before, how it used to be.
He adjusts the video camera he had bought and presses the record button. He gave it to his wife and instructed her to sit on the counter and stay still to record what he would be doing. The distance was well calculated by him so he has no problems of everything to be included in the film.
“And now, for this year’s Christmas, I, Byun Baekhyun, shall do the cooking!” he said in his cheerful voice.
“And you, Byun Miseok, will be my living witness. And with the video’s help, I shall shine! HA-HA-HA.”
Miseok laughed. “Should you say, HO-HO-HO?” she point out and Baekhyun smiled widely. His wife is catching up with what he wants to happen.
“Stay still Mrs. Claus, because Mr. Claus will surprise you..” he said and then turn his back.
He made an effort, he made sure of it. He took cooking classes; those one’s that require only a short time. Those short sessions, and he asked the tutor that he would focus on Christmas dishes.
He flipped the pan and made a ”Whoa!” to impress his wife. Tho he is aware she couldn't see.
She clapped her free hands, and pats the table to show she was impressed. “I could hear something sizzling.”
“That’s something that I can’t tell you yet.” He replied, a wide smile spread on his face.
“I could tell it already though.” She said playfully and beamed.
Baekhyun laughed. “You really love cooking.”
In his mind, he was happy. At least, he was feeling what he wanted to feel for today.
“Main Course was done, thanks to Chef Byun.” He and his wife laughed. “Okay, okay. Now let us continue Chef Byun’s cooking show!”
“I thought you were Mr. Claus?” she teased.
“Oh! I forgot, I am Mr. Claus in disguise! HO-HO-HO!”
The cooking ‘show’ ended and Baekhyun let his wife sit back for he is going to prepare their table. It’s an hour before 12 and everything is almost perfect.
When he was done, he sat beside her and she searched his hands to intertwine it with hers. She inclined her head and lean on his shoulders.
“Baek, can you play the piano? The one that you keep on playing…” she whispered.
“But it wasn’t done.” He said.
“Nope. It’s done. Trust me. Just keep playing and you will come to an end.”
He stared at the piano and he decided to just do what she wants. He stood up and she sat back on her seat waiting for the music to reach her ears.
Once he started pressing the keys, Miseok swayed in sync. She felt light all of a sudden. Baekhyun closed his eyes to even feel the music. Although it sounded sad, he could feel happiness and he don’t know why. He just keeps playing, and the Christmas tree beside him gave off a very vibrant feeling.
Everything seemed so bright. That’s what they both thought.
All of a sudden, fireworks shot out through the sky indicating the clock striking 12 and the day hitting the Christmas. He turns his head towards the opened sliding door and smiled while his hands continue playing. The music seemed to go with the atmosphere.
His attention went back to playing. He was almost at the part where he had stopped because he wasn’t able to finish it when he felt arms wrapping on him from his back. He jolted and a chin came to rest on his head making him still.
“Continue…” he heard her whisper.
His hands magically continued playing on his own and he could sense his wife now sitting beside him. Wide eyed, he stared at her.
His tears brimming on his eyes, he couldn’t stop but sniff shamelessly in front of her. Who wouldn’t? When his wife is staring back at him, smiling so sweetly and her eyes…. Sparkling. Like she could see something.
“You could see?” he asked stupidly. His hands left the piano keys and cupped her small face.
Miseok nodded. “It’s a miracle Baek.” She replied, tearing up. “When those fireworks starts shooting up the sky, I turned and instantly I could see. Though it was unfocused at first, I was able to adjust.” She added.
Baekhyun hugged her so tightly. “We can hear that all later. What’s important is that, you can finally see.”
They hugged for what seemed like forever. When they finally pull away, he leaned closer and gave her the sweetest Christmas kiss he could muster. With mistletoe, or not.
“One thing..” Miseok said after their Christmas kiss.
Baekhyun gave her a questioning look when she positioned herself properly in front the piano. Her frail hands starts to press the keys and a familiar melody came out.
She turned to him. “This is the music I wanted you to play but you played the other.”
He still has this confused expression on his face but recognition flashes after Miseok continued playing. “That’s what I’m composing the day you lost your sight.”
Miseok nodded. “And you stopped after that incident. You seemed to forget about this.” She frowned.
“It is done anyway.” He said.
“But remains untitled.” She replied.
“Oh.” Baekhyun nodded in agreement and she poked his head. “Yah. I have an idea!” she said.
He smiled and then cupped her face again to peck her lips. He just couldn’t stop doing it. Miseok giggled. “Hey let me finish first.” She said and stopped him from giving her another kiss.
“Let’s hear your idea so that I can kiss you now. Palli.” He pouts childishly.
Miseok just shook her head and then dig in his piano sheets to search. “I will give this piece a title.” She said as she pulled out a paper.
“Miracles in December.” She smiled.
Baekhyun smiled back, tenderly. “Brilliant.” He reached out for the piece while snatching another kiss from her. “Yah aish.” She reacted.
He just grinned. “Lyrics will come after, right?” he asked.
Instead of a nod, a growl was heard, from both of their stomachs. “Oops.” She put a hand on her lips while smiling mischievously.
“Reminds me, Mrs. Claus let us eat. A food specially made by Mr. Claus.” Baekhyun laughed and lead his wife to their kitchen.

P.S.
The next day, after that, Miseok was so happy to announce that she pregnant. (She was vomiting that morning and Baekhyun was so worried it might affect her eyesight again so he brought her to the hospital in which the doctor advised them to visit an obstetrician instead.) Another miracle in December.
P.S.S
And Miseok was laughing at the cooking ‘show’ Baekhyun performed. It turned out, the food he cooked was not great compared to a chef but edible enough to eat. He sulked when she said that but agreed to it after receiving a kiss of compensation. (Which ended to a make out and--- hehe.)
