Top 5 Bands in my Book
The Smashing Pumpkins - if you don't understand, i can't explain. . .
The Cure - what hopeless romantic doesn't have the cure under their list of favourites? anyway, they're just good.
Radiohead - whoever doesn't like them needs a bullet in the head. :)
Ani Difranco - she's one of the most amazingly talented beings alive today
Sonic Youth - it's funny because I only take in a little bit of their music at a time.. but I think it's because it's all I can handle in one sitting. fantastic.

Top 5 Most Overrated Bands
Linkin Park - ::shrugs:: Why?
Pygmy - it seems I don't know a single person in the area that goes to shows that isn't on their jocks. not saying they're bad or anything.. i just don't see what the hoopla is about.
Anyone on American Idol (*gag*) - cannot stand the show. some of the people have good if not somewhat decent voices... but it's just making a mockery of music. please, someone out there must agree =\
Where Fear and Weapons Meet - another band I hear plenty of but when I finally get to hearing them, am just not severely impressed at all. doesn't live up.
Taking Back Sunday - ::coughgenericcough::. some cute songs and all, but really. let's stay away from the formula.

Top 5 Jaw Dropping Bands
The Violent Femmes - cannot be denied.
The Who - everytime i hear them, it's like the first time... amazing.
The Pixies - why can't there be more bands like this?
The Velvet Underground - with nico and without, just wonderful stuff.
The Doors - morisson was a great poet, and the music was equally intoxicating. need we say more?

24 Hour Party People was good. I have to say, though, that i'm slightly dissapointed at the 2/3rds of the film after Ian Curtis dies (I was going to say that this is a spoiler.. but obviousely he was going to die.. it's based on actual events.. and if you don't know who Ian Curtis is, or at least Joy Division.. why would you watch this movie? Apologies.. i'm being an elitst bitch and it's very unlike me, heh). I think it could be because Ian was my favourite character. :( ALl in all, not what I expected.. but definitely a good flick to catch. Informative and amusing. Good stuff.

I was going to watch Mulholland next, but I think i'll pass till later in the week as i'm considering resting early due to waking up early for Sunfest tomorrow. Woooooo. *happy sigh*
