Question:Darren and flattering colors

Yes, this is related to some fiction I'm prepping. What colors do you think would be flattering to Darren? And, since this is Mr. Nichols, which colors are a particularly Bad Idea?

That scarlet uniform jacket certainly made his beard go all Nixon gunmetal blue. And I don't know that Darren ever doesn't have beardshadow.

Think he could wear aubergine? (I think he might be one of those people that actual black looks bad on.)
