Jack Vance - thoughts and recommendations

Jul 29, 2004 18:12

Why did it took months for me to find your LJ? :)

You missed a great Vance book!!

"Maske: Thaery"... Oh, "Then let's visit the Jiraldra, where we can discuss Wellas and Nai the Hever and what lies beyond Zangwill Reef, and I'll describe the music of Eiselbar." the quote which started it all :)

Another good one is the collected Magnus Rudolph stories I think. I've managed to read two, and they reminded me much of Cugel in space. :)

I read Maske: Thaery a few years back, but, like an idiot, I lent my copy to someone and never got it back. Grrr! I can't believe I left it out of my list, though - thanks for reminding me! And I loved Magnus Ridolph too!

Speaking of Vance, did you hear that the sequel to Ports of Call, Lurulu, is coming out on December 1st?! I'm so excited - December can't come soon enough for me.

Do you mind if I friend you? I am so happy to see another Vanceophile around here!

Hi Melancthe! Here's EU from CoE again :)

And woohoo! Thanks for reminding me Lurulu finally is going to be available!
I did some surfing on the net, and it seems Lurulu already is available in Germany, and our dutch translator is working on it. She said the book should be available in Holland (my country) this month!

This month! You lucky, lucky woman - I'm very envious! I hope you're going to get it quickly and share all the Vancey goodness with the rest of us. :)

I didn't realise that there was a new Vance community out there - thanks for telling me about it. I've joined - it'll be so nice to chat to others who understand our addiction!
