J'accuse!

It's totally your fault, Tumblr.

No, really. I was almost (almost) perfectly okay with not having dipped my toe into the Freeman/Cumberbatch "Sherlock" universe but someone (well, several someones) keeps posting adorable gifs and I've loved Martin Freeman for a very long time and I find Sherlock Holmes a terribly intriguing character and there ( Read more... )

this is bat country, hobbity goodness, horror, tv

I watched the first episode awhile back and am also intrigued. Martin's managed to sell me on Bilbo (a feat, btw, I eyed him with a ton of suspicion until the Unexpected Party scene ran through), so why not. I'm not as intrigued by Crumblybritches, though I liked his crazy Sherlock a lot. Eventually I will keep watching, except I may have to make a detour to Heroes first (because Quinto ate my brains already and I haven't even seen it yet).

I don't know how to handle new fandoms. It's bizarre. I've been quite firmly in my forever OTP for freaking 10 years almost, I feel like I'm cheating and I have guilt.

Mmm... Heroes. You know, I watched only the first two seasons of that. It's in my queue and I should give it a second chance instead of getting annoyed by all the TERRIBLE horror movies Netflix keeps suggesting to me...

Re new fandoms: I was so terribly naive in that I didn't even realize such things existed. I mean, I knew about the hardcore, old school Trekkies and people who dressed up as Star Wars characters, but I didn't know that people latched onto other things. I still don't know exactly how I so easily lost myself to Monaboyd but I suppose it doesn't hurt that the guys themselves make it crazy easy for the fangirls. I'm tentative about delving into the Sherlock fandom because of that same guilt you mention. But... It's okay to like more than one TV show or movie or novel, so why wouldn't it be okay to check out new fandoms. (See Melanie rationalize. Rationalize, Melanie, rationalize.)

Yeah. Guilt.

I know. I mean, I watch some shows. I was ADDICTED to LOST even after Dom left, addicted to my core, planned my life around LOST night, but I didn't get into the fandom aspect of it, and when it ended I was satisfied. Only read a few fics here and there, and most of those canon chars and pairings only. That's how I am with almost everything, show, book or whatever that I get really into. So for me to very suddenly, very intensely fall into a new fandom this deeply is just friggin weird.

I haven't looked at much Kirk/Spock, to be honest. Trek fandom is the black hole of all fandoms. It legitimately scares me. So I'll just stick to the safety of RPF in one little section of it for now.

Oh, and "Crumblybritches"? My laughter woke the cat.
