Dawn of a new year and a new passion

I rang in the new year with good friends, great food, and fun games. The beau introduced my gang to the Star Wars: X-Wing miniatures game and succeeded in getting two of us addicted. Seriously. We played twice on New Year's Eve and I was jonesing so badly for another round that I put out a call to the DnD group for an impromptu game day this past ( Read more... )

I adore Betrayal. I like it most for the exploration and puzzlement of building the house, and how that affects survivability later on. If you need another person to play it, put me on your list!

Agreed. The first time we played, the haunt started before we'd even gotten six rooms in due to the way the cards and die stacked up so we didn't get a good feel for what else lurked in the house. Sean and I got to explore probably 75% of the house before the haunt started this time; I'm looking forward to playing it again with others. And I will DEFINITELY throw you an invitation for the next game day/night.

That looks like fun! The timing won't work out, unfortunately... Pandemic sounds like a pretty cool game, as well. I've seen a lot of people on Facebook talking about it.

reedrove introduced us to the 'Betrayal' - glad you like it. As for the gaming convention - if you didn't go, what would you do?

If I didn't go, I'd do whatever I've done during the other con weekends he's attended... girl plans or housekeeping or travel. :-) We'll have to see what the timing is like.

No, he was talking about CosCon which is run by historical wargaming buddy. Sean typically goes to Cold Wars, but none of his local friends are attending this year.

I'll mention MAGfest to Sean, but we're also trying to prep for potential house stuff and pinch our pennies as well.

No kidding. He has shelves and shelves and shelves of 6mm and 10mm Napoleonics and ACW and aliens and mechs and tanks and planes and and and... I'll stick to Lego. Mostly.

I've cured my Figmentia. Forty seven Banker's boxes of still-blistered minis going all the way back to 1977. One day, I'll flood eBay.
