I watched Phantom of the Opera on Friday and I am now hooked. I keep trying to bully my friend to let me borrow her DVD again or even the sound track. She wont let me and has caused a fit of icon making. Some are better than others.

I have asked numerous people this question, so sorry if I've already asked you, but...what program do you use for your icons? Or do you know any kind that is free or at least somewhat better than Paint?

I use quiet a few programmes; Paint to crop and resize images, PhotoImpression 4 to add gradients and other effects, and Animation Shop 3 to add text. All the programmes were just on my computer, though I'm not sure if they were free or my dad added them.

The bases for #1 and #2 are almost purely done in Paint, the text could prob'ly be done in Paint, but I'm lazy and use Animation Shop 3 (it's easier to move the text around). It's mostly about finding the right images to play around with.
