The Golden Compass! + book list..

Ahh! I remember reading this years ago! Can't wait to see how it turns out!

And. Uh. This. If you've read it, you'd know what it is. If not, DO THIS FOR ME ANYWAYS.

Also.

I just checked out a three books from the library:
No Logo, by Naomi Klein, Chew On This!, by Eric Schlosser & Charles Wilson, & First They Killed My Father, by Loung Ung.

No Logo: anti-corporations & anti-advertising; fits w/ my clothes-buying philosophy that I do NOT want to be a walking advertisement. Do your marketing elsewhere, because I don't want any part of it. That being said, I'm sure some of my clothing has the brand printed somewhere on it, just really small/not as significant. I just despise those shirts/sweatshirts that proclaim the brand all over it, like a walking billboard.

Chew On This!: muck-raking about fast food, again. I read "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser, so I'm interested in what new approach/new information he uses in this book compared to the first book.

First They Killed My Father: non-fiction memoir of the Khmer Rouge-era in Cambodia; my parents actually experienced this first-hand, decades ago. After being enslaved in camps, they fled the country, heading west for Thailand. It is still hard to believe the risk for their own life they had to go through. No, I am not ethnically Cambodian, as my grandparents moved to Cambodia from China, but I have a lot of family there, and my parents grew up there...

I also wanted to read "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien & "A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier" by Ishmael Beah, but I can't even handle one book for a month-- I never get a chance to really sit down & read D: I haven't even finished "Good Omens" yet :/

We'll see how the books are (why do I say "we", when I'm the one reading it?)~

Anyone read any of the above and have a few words to put in? :]?
