(Melbourne) Quiff & Upstart Alley present:Upstart Alley opening night Saturday April 7th - x posted
The Upstart Alley crew is bringing Melbourne events that express, create and mix it up through artforms including performance, spoken word, film, bands, DJs and visual art and and all you dirty queers, trannys, activist kids and progressive folks are invited.
Upstart Alley is one of GenderSchmender's bastard love children (check out some other GenderSchmender off shoots at www.myspace.com/gender_schmender. Upstart Alley is continuing to cause trouble in all the right ways and provide sexy political spaces that welcomes all you misfits who punch and leak outta the boxes and beyond.
We're not about making rebellion into profit so door charges are cheap and any profit goes back into paying performers and putting on future events. Friendly and accessible events where you can use whatever bathroom you want as we will be tearing through those male/female labels on your bathroom door.
Please note that we have hired a ramp for the front step of the Bendigo Hotel - the rest of the venue is accessible except the bathrooms which are not wheelchair accessible. Upstart Alley was not able to secure an appropriate venue for bands to play which did have a separate wheelchair accessible bathroom. Sadly, these are few and far between in Melbourne.
