Good article. Dilettantism is something I struggle with a lot. I think that's partly why I've avoided twitter, but didn't fully link the two, or combine information overload with boredom. Although for me, I'm never struck with the idea that something isn't worth pursuing (except in practical terms which have existed for centuries, like poetry vs skilled labor), instead I usually think that things are rather easy to master, until I discover its not.
The gist of the article ties well with the idea that clutter is an enemy of happiness, and simplicity is a noble goal. Physical possession weigh us down, but I suppose anything and everything that divides our focus can, including information.
