Rock-hard optimism has seen me through some very tough times. Even if it's temporary, enjoy it.

It's the coming-down from the temporary ups that worries me. Planning for the long term usually rules out enjoying unmerited happiness, since it can lead to equally unmerited decisions.

Yeah, yay for my dad. :) Really profound yay. This is beyond unexpected for me.

In fact, I feel a bit guilty for never having believed that his recovery could go so far. That kind of hope felt like a luxury I couldn't afford - again, for fear of inevitable disappointment.
