This weekend is free MMO weekend!

As the title says, this weekend I'm trying out new MMOs, since I'm too damn broke for WoW, and since Danny B from school IMed me to talk about it (for the first time in like a year OTL), I got nostalgic.

It was really good timing then that elysianguardian (dammit, I hope I spelled that right, stop making new accounts, bastard!) invited me to check out a new MMO ( Read more... )

MelMel that was like half a year ago. I still hop on GE now and then but it became too much of a grindfest after 30 (I'm 50ish now) for me to stay too attached. Anyway the -new- hip thing to play is Atlantica so I expect you to catch on to that by President's Day.

(Oh, and Requiem was somewhat rubbish too, though I really tried to get into it. Controls(?) and twitching limbs aside it was a little too grindy too early on and the "mature" themes seemed to drag in a pretty laughable community. If it was fun to play then I could probably look past that but oh well. I should review these things but I don't.)

You know I'll never catch on to anything before everyone's stopped playing it! It just doesn't work that way! I figured you weren't playing it anymore, but I wanted to give it a shot based on how it looked. And besides, it's FREE MMO WEEKEND, where I try to waste my time on this stuff as much as possible!

But for Atlantica.. well, I was intimidated enough by the thought of controlling three people in Granado Espada, but the thought of a huge group like that? It doesn't sound very appealing.

Man, aren't there any free games that look good and don't play wonky as all get-out?

Atlantica: If you have ever played a turned-based RPG in your life and were like "OMG TOO MANY CHARACTERS" then you might have trouble but if you could manage it then you'll be fine because that's how it works. X3

EDIT: Chrono Cross doesn't count because that actually was too many characters. ._.

I'm kind of okay with a lot of characters, but my main problem is how to interact with other players. If I'm on the right track, doesn't that make stuff like grouping obsolete and you only really fool around with other characters when you're doing stuff like raiding?

Luminous Arc has like 15 (technically 16) playable characters. That's pushing it. I mean, that's REALLY pushing it. For me, at least.
