oh man i totally understand about the transcript. here our marking guide is like:
Pass: 50-64 Credit: 65-74 Distinction: 75-84 High Distinction: 85+
and it's reallllly hard to get a distinction, let alone a HD. so i set myself the goal of distinctions but usually get high credits, right? and a couple of times i've got 64 (pass) which is so freaking close to a credit and it's HORRIBLE. i feel like i've tarnished my transcript by having passes on it amongst CR/D/HDs. ugh. :[ it's the perfectionist in me. i'd retake the classes but i don't have the money/time for that. :/
Oh man, I thought you were MIA from LJ since you hadn't posted in so long, I totally would have tagged you otherwise xD
That grading system sounds really confusing. I go to a shit college though, so of course ours isn't good enough to be complicated *shakes fist* Now that I think about it, retaking these classes of mine would probably be a bad idea, too... Argh. School. It, it... Oh man.
oh it's cool! i wouldn't have the time now, anyway. i'm so busy with uni work; it's almost the end of the semester here. :P
it was at first, but now it's easy to understand. basically if you got 80s-90s in highschool you'll get 70s-80s at my uni, if you're lucky. most people are happy with passing because it's the baseline you need to get (well, obviously) but everyone tends to get credits if they put effort in. i just want the highest i can get. :P my highest ever mark was 88 (HD), and i think i'm pretty intelligent (haha i sound conceited but anyway) so i guess that's one way to gauge the grading system.
