High chair advice

We need to get a real highchair. I have no idea what to get. I think they all have similar features, but slightly different. I'm not sure what is easiest. I would like to have something that is sort of nice looking since it will be in our kitchen for a long time to come ( Read more... )

I did a lot of research before Nathan was born, and ended up buying a Fisher Price Healthy Care highchair. It seemed to have the highest ratings and best reviews. We loved it, although we didn't use it as long as we thought we would. We moved on to the $25 Fisher Price booster seat fairly quickly.

We have the FP Healthy Care Booster at all the grandparents houses and it's great. Not sure it's the most comfy b/c there's no padding. But it's good for small spaces. At our house we have the FP Aquarium one and love it. Easy to clean, has a tray that is dishwasher safe and comes with toys. But it's not the prettiest and probably won't match your kitchen. I've heard good things about the Chicco one.

we have a fisher price heathy care one...

we like it over all.

I love that it has the trays that snap out and you can throw them in the dishwasher. (we got a pack of 2 extra and it came with one - and that seems like it is the perfect amount for us.)

I like that the seat cover can be thrown in the washer.

I *LOVE* that it has a molded plastic separation between the legs. My sister's seat didn't (it relies on the seat belt only to hold the kid in and Molly almost slipped out of it during a visit... v. scary.)

I don't like that there are some crevices under the seat cover (we vacuum them out with our handy vac - but it annoys me that they are there)

and I dont like that the locks on the wheels of ours have been defective since day one. we move our chair around a lot - they randomly lock them selves so now i just heave the thing around instead of wheeling it. At one point I asked my FL if anyone else had that problem with their FP highchair and noone else did... so i think we might have been unlucky.

We have the Fisher Price Space Saver chair that clips onto a real chair. Lots of people on my FL have it, everyone seems to like it. We do too. We have the tan version, and it's actually got pretty subdued colors. And it's small enough to tuck away pretty easily if you needed to.
