Miss Emily is 10 days old today. She's still in the NICU and it's been really hard. We found out on Friday that she has something called WPW. We've been really scared about the whole thing and how we're going to handle things when she comes home, but we spoke with her cardiologist today and everything seems a lot more manageable. When they first ( Read more... )

Congratulations on being able to pump enough for her, and for getting her to the breast. I have totally been there, done that, with both the pumping and the shield, and it’s so hard, but so worth it. Keep it up, you’re doing great. In the grand scheme of things, a few formula feedings aren’t the end of the world, considering what you and Emily have already been through. The important thing is that your milk is in now, and you’re able to give her nothing but your milk. I hope she continues to improve, and that she gets to come home very soon. Remember not to overdo it. Take it easy when you can. I think that will probably be easier when Emily comes home and you can just chill out with her instead of having to run back and forth to the hospital twice a day. Good luck, and congratulations again!

You poor thing, this is so stressful for you I'm sure. You are doing a GREAT job pumping though like that around the clock! I am seriously so beyond impressed. The breast milk will really really help her too, you are amazing.

I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers <3

I know it sounds superstitious but seriously try the St. Anthony's prayer - it always works for me. You have to be sure to say what you're looking for and visualize the item too while you're looking. I hope you guys can find his ring. Oh and I hope the finances will work out. Do you have insurance?

I'm sending you a huge congratulations for pumping as much as you have been! Emily is going to be so much healthier and happier because of your milk! It is such a wonderful gift that you are giving and to be doing it during such a stressful time too! I give you a lot of credit for sticking with it. I'm still pumping when I'm at work and I don't love it. I can't imagine having to constantly pump.

When I first started nursing I said I would see how I feel after 1 year. The American Association of Pediatrics recommends you breastfeed at least a year. When I got to a year last month I knew there was no way I was going to stop. The bond I have with my daughter over nursing is something I will always cherish. The World Health Organization recommends nursing for at least 2 years, which is my next goal :) Basically, we are going to stop whenever my daughter is ready. In the meantime, I cherish our cuddles and continue to be thankful that I had enough milk to give ( ... )
