so I be written in the book of love

On Monday's Countdown, on MSNBC, Keith Olbermann made a special comment on the passage of Prop 8 in California and other states. I still cannot believe there is enough hate in the world to sustain that kind of decision and take happiness away from so many people. These are the most eloquent, heart-felt and true words I've seen anyone say on the ( Read more... )

Yeah, to me too. And even those "liberal" states passed it, it's horrifying. People shouldn't have to protest for their constitutional rights, at this day and age.

That's beautiful. What they're trying to do with Prop 8 is disgusting and shameful. This man is what it's all about, this is the attitude they should have <3

And the thing is they did so many campaigns before the elections, and yet it still passed. I hope at least a few people who voted Yes on 8 watched this and felt even a little bit ashamed.

I STILL can't believe that on the same day we elected Barack Obama, California passed Prop 8. It's insane. How do these people justify their vote to themselves? Do they think that since they voted to ban gay marriage, God is going to welcome them into Heaven? That's bullshit, pure and simple. Those people are the reason I'm an atheist. If that's the kind of thing God wants and the kind of thing that God wants us to believe, then I don't want any part of it.

And I can't comprehend what the world thinks of us now. I'm sure the general feeling is something like,
"Have they learned NOTHING from their past? Wasn't slavery, segregation, discrimination, racism enough?"

One of my very best friends is gay. The thought that more than half of this country thinks that he is somehow less of a person than me makes me sick.

Ugh. End rant. I'm so glad that Keith went on LIVE TELEVISION and said what every intelligent person in American was thinking. :(

I don't understand how they can combine God loving everyone, and God hating "teh gays" so much, it just doesn't make any sense. Where does it say that we should make other people unhappy?

I can't say anything against the US on that matter, because here in Greece things are the same even worse. They've been trying to block even the civil unions. I can't believe gay people are being made to feel like outcasts in this society.

I know, at least someone said it and vented. You wanna rant, and at the same time you want to cry.

Well said. I can't understand why people won't allow rights like these to pass.:/

Me either, it's a mystery. They have a mantra and they stick with it, as if it's their right to oppress others. COME ON.
