My love for this show continues to be deep, unabiding and unqualifed. It's funny, it's deeply silly, and just awesomely enjoyable all the way round. I have no deep thoughts. Mostly just squee.
- The overall style of the show, the way its shot, the color pallete, and score, are all working for me really well. It's bright, it's shiny. There are no cloudy days outside, despite the "swirling pit of despair" that is the high school.
- I'm sorry, Tina Fey, but Jane Lynch just might be the funniest woman on TV. She is HILARIOUS. And unlike so many women on TV, she feels "real" to me, despite the OTT nature of her character. But I actually believed she was outraged by 17 copies and losing European dry cleaning, you know? (Her claim of lupus had me rolling on the floor. Especially when you add it to the hepitaitis from the pilot).
- I can't wait to watch "Golddigger" again -- it was definitely the showstopper of the episode for me. It was really well put together -- Matthew Morrison handled a tough song surprisingly well for a Broadway guy. Mercedes has an awesome, awesome voice.
- I'm glad that my feelings about the awfulness of Terri was confirmed. (Though the "daughter or gay son" line did make me laugh.) This is a soap-opera storyline, which the producers have got to know, and I'm trusting they won't carry it on for too long.
- Poor Emma and her sobbing in the car. (I love the way they use that kind of editing.) Her line about the lack of a gag reflex was +1 funny, but here I'd been thinking that Emma was a virgin... The pamphlets in the counseling office... omg, so funny.
- Push It was... well, Rachel should not be left to her own devices :) I'm with Mr. Schuester on this one.
- Rachel and Finn. And Quinn. Loved the Celibacy Club. "It's all about the teasing and not about the pleasing." Liked Quinn's song, too.
- Tina felt invisible for me in this episode, which is a shame. I hope they bring her to the forefront.
- My admiration for the actresses' voice has increased 100x after "Take a Bow." Really lovely.
Overall, a solid, fun, rewatchable episode 2!
