Saturday May 21st - Malé, capital of the Maldives

This morning we sailed into the Maldives, and anchored near Malé, the tiny capital of the Maldives. It has a population of 100,000+ people in barely 4 square miles of land. J and I stayed on an island in the Maldives, and it was beautiful but tiny. The dives we did there are what convinced us that we really did need to start scuba diving. We didn't feel like visiting the capital after flying in and seeing how overdeveloped it was. We had to pay for the boat ride there and didn't have time before flying out.

My wife had the same experience in India; she visited a city in the interior where she was perhaps the only white person, and her style of dress was quite exotic as well.
