I just got back from the Bay Area, where I was attending a teachers' conference on Two-Way Bilingual Immersion (another way to say "Dual Language Class", which is what I teach).  I can't complain about much, as public school teachers rarely get sent, all expenses paid, to such incredible locations, but I am a little disappointed about the meals I ( Read more... )

Indeed. Of course, on this trip I had no choice in the matter. I'd blame it on their midwestern-ness, but I was the most MIDwestern of the bunch (being from Kansas originally) and a couple of them were from other countries (Romania, Peru). They were fun to hang out with otherwise.

Next time you're out there, try the dim sum at Yank Sing. About 15 years ago, I had a seafood pasta at a place on the Wharf that was unreal. I wish I could remember the place's name. Anyway, we feel your pain regarding your food experience. I didn't even know the Elephant Bar was still around. Strange name for a place in the Bay Area, anyway.
