I have less than two months left at my job. Yeaaaa and booooo. I have mixed feelings about that of course. This week I gotta get my guts up and tell the head honcho of our department about my plans

I've heard that Gatlinburg is really nice, although I am unsure as to lodging prices.
Another nice neck of the woods is Starlight Indiana, they have huber's farm and a few other attractions. I know there is a cabin you can rent not far from huber's that is affordable. Of course if you're taking a trip in October you may not want to go to the touristy areas. Oh I was going to suggest Hershey Pa but that's a trek, nearing 10 hours each way I think. it's about halfway between where we are and my family. I'll have to put my thinking cap on :)
ahhhh yes. I've been there three times, including on our honeymoon :*) It can be really cheap, and since we went on the off season, we got a great cabin rental with all the fixins for about $90 a night, plus it was a "buy three nights, get the fourth free" kinda deal. It's awesome. I actually thought about that. Thanks for the tip.
Ha ha, we must think alike. Dave and I talked about going to Hershey, PA too! Plus, there is a town not too far away called Intercourse, PA. LOL. We could get stocked up on chocolate and head on over there. Oh, geeeesh, TMI. SORRY! LOL
who can pass up chocolate and Intercourse Pa LOL hehehehe
anyway, I've always wanted to visit Hershey. I actually have a brochure around here somewhere, if it has some weblinks I'll post them for you. We've stayed right near hershey on our last drive to the East Coast. One of these days we'll be stopping for chocolate :)
We'll be heading out to the East Coast in 18 days!! But this time around we're driving through Buffalo NY b/c Scott wants to have real Buffalo wings, the resturant that created the first buffalo wings is right on our way and it's about the midway point too!
not sure about cheap...juls911August 14 2007, 15:40:10 UTC
You should go to Myrtle Beach or Virgina Beach...it is about a 13 hour drive but there are so many things along the way! or the cheapest trip would be to come to COlumbus and visit your friends!!!!!! *wink*

He's gonna punch me he's gonna punch me......
Thanks for the suggestion. Virginia Beach has entered our minds. We're still debating it.

Hmmmmm I'm not sure what we have going on this weekend but I'll talk to Dave about it. Sounds fun. Thanks for the invite! I do know we'll be in town over all of Labor Day weekend if you want to, at some point, get together for a drink or just to chat somewhere.
Yeah, I kept meaning to call or email you or Dave, because if you were going to come the weekend fo Oct. 20th, I'll be out of town for a wedding anyway!
And I don't know how much this will appeal to you, but Holiday World in Jasper IN is a fun trip and not too pricey. Of course, that totally depends on weather too.
