Spooky October!!!

In honor of Friday the 13th and general October creepiness, and in the spirit of eldritchhobbit's LiveJournal October-creepy-fest, here's one of my creepiest poems ever, Goethe's "Der Erlkönig", which, combined with Franz Scubert's terrifying yet hellishly catchy musical setting of the poem as a lied, managed to trouble my sleep for a long time.

I wish I could have found a link to Schubert's lied that would play on my computer. If you ever get a chance to hear it, please do so! It's a masterpiece of songwriting as well as a masterpiece of creepitude!!!

Ah! One of my faves. We had to listen to this in Susan Rupert's music class. (I saw her tonight, BTW). It gives me chills every time I listen to it.
