peaseblossom asked me for a recap of my experiences thus far with Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab.
(Edited for note-taking purposes 1/1/2007)
I've tried:
Friday 13
Ravenous
Anathema
Seraphim
Dirty
Namaste
Silentium Amoris
Nyarlathotep
Hellcat
Lust
Arkham
The High Priest Not To Be Described
Still in the box waiting to be tried: (I only do one scent per day)
I want to try and keep forgetting to order:
Anne Bonny
Bewitched
Jolly Roger (for Brian)
Sin
I will (or have already) definitely order(ed) big bottles of:
Silentium Amoris
Anathema
Seraphim
I will definitely be trading:
Namaste -- I love, love, love this scent, but I cannot wear it. Contains black patchouli, which gives me a headache nearly without fail. (Red patchouli does not affect me that way, though, so any others of you who suffer headaches from the black need not necessarily avoid blends containing the red.)
Friday 13 -- A lovely, vanilla-laden scent. Makes me smell too much like a bakery, so I shall pass it on.
Nyarlathotep -- A really nice incensey blend with enough high notes for projection, doesn't take a lot to go a long way. Tends to turn a bit powdery on my skin but not in a bad way. Still, I'm thinking it's too ritual on me and not sexy enough. For those of you into religious ritualizing, however, I suspect this scent cannot be beaten for ritual-wear!
Lust -- Black patchouli + Melissa = headache.
Azathoth -- Far too screechy for me. There, I am insane now.
Arkham -- Really lovely and violet-heavy. Reminds me of Diana Wynne Jones's Dogsbody wherein villainess smells like ozone and violets. I would like to smell this scent on other things, but it's not what I'm looking for in a perfume.
The High Priest Not To Be Described -- a mysterious, surprisingly alluring scent. But, alas, it reminds me of a specific unpleasant college memory, so I'm going to pass this on. It is both a ritually and romantically evocative scent, so I highly recommend giving it a try.
Hellcat -- :::::SWOON::::!!!one! At first I wanted Brian to try this one to see how it interacts with his body chemistry. A luscious, masculine scent which makes me go RAWWWWWR!!! right out of the bottle, but as the day wore on it just made me smell like an employee at a head shop, so my affair with Hellcat was short-lived.
Keeping my imps until I decide whether I'm ordering a big bottle or trading:
Dirty -- So lovely, but is it enough? I can't help but think I might be better off looking for a blend with plumeria in it.
Ravenous -- Awesome! I just can't decide if it's keep-the-imp-awesome or 5-oz.-awesome.
