Yeah, I know. I rented Blazing Saddles and was very disappointed with the special features, though the PQ was okay. The commentary was just Mel Brooks rambling for 90 minutes (humorous and insightful rambling but rambling nonetheless), they had a few short clips about certain things (the best of which was the cast remembering Madeline Khan) but all in all it left a lot to be desired. It was supposed to be some sort of anniversary-collector's edition too, but it was so light on extras that I thought there must be a 2nd disc or something which I was missing out on, and it turns out there's not.
As for Young Frankenstein, there is again a single disc so I'm also wary of that. Basically, if the price is right, then I'll go for it. Blazing Saddles I'd pay $12-15 for, Young Frankenstein no more than $20. I'll keep an eye out for the deals.
LOTR is not yet available or announced for Blu-ray, but I am on Amazon's alert list for it and I check Blu-ray news pretty much daily, so as soon as it's ready I'll know about it and will be ordering it.
Yeah man, I rented it and was blown away. I don't normally like westerns, but 3:10 delivered great action, great characters, great performances, and great quality audio/video to boot. If I find it for a good price I'll snatch it up.
