Dammit, I really should've seen this coming.

Along with No Country Old Men, which was such a massive disappointment that it's put me off ever watching a new Coen brothers film again (Burn After Reading looks like the kind of stupid bullshit you'd make if you had researched the theoretical structures of comedy without actually understanding humour ( Read more... )

Whoo Kristen Bell!

Award shows and critics love boring movies. They seem to label them as "artistic" and "original" rather than lacking substance.

They over-think it. Some movies sound excellent on paper, but when it's onscreen, it just flops. I kept thinking when watching this one that it would've made a good book.

Sarah Marshall was better than I'd expected, even better than Knocked Up. Especially that finale.

Daniel Day Lewis should eat his own face. Raw, if possible. I'm sure it'd be an improvement. Last movie I watched with him in it was Gangs of New York which had plenty of potential to be awesome.. builds up towards the big finish and completely fizzles out! What's the fucking point in building towards a gang war where hammers are the main implement of pain dispensation if you're NOT GOING TO ACTUALLY HAVE THE GANG WAR?! And it was hailed as one of the best movie of the FUCKING YEAAAAAAARRRRGRGHHHHH!!!!

*ahem*

That Sarah Marshall flick looks like it could be worth a watch. I'm also holding onto Wall-E (got a good copy) for my next sick day - seems like the sorta movie to curl up and goo "Oooooh!" and "Aaaaaah!" and "Awww! *sniffles*". :D

He was the bomb in In The Name Of The Father yo

Wall-E sounds pretty decent; I love it when they crack out a kid's movie that has universal appeal, rather than having heaps of annoying characters and catchphrases/pop culture references. Horton Hears A Who! was another recent one I really liked. Even the animation is wickedbadawesome. And Sarah Marshall is worth the time.
