blog settings?

Is there a way to set a default on my Livejournal blog that will automatically allow Friends to post but everyone else (Livejournal user or not) to automatically Screen?  I'm seeing a recent increase in spammers using my blog to post ads.  I delete them promptly, but I really dislike the idea of closing my journal to public comment.

In Profile / settings / Privacy you can you can change comment screening From Anonymous to Non-friends. Another option is non-friends with links This is a global setting

You can also only allow comments from friends.

And if you think it is a robot then set the Captcha which requires humans to enter a code.

You can also do some this for each message as you post it.

Ooh, thanks! I changed only a single setting just now:
Anti-Spam: Show CAPTCHA to "non-friends"

I think that's exactly what I need to prevent these recent spams. We'll see.

CAPTCHA doesn't stop all attempts. There are algorithms that can recognize them some of the time, so things can still slip through.
