Onward and upward! And a slight change in plans.

I still don't completely have all my costumes packed away from Dragon*Con. I need to make some repairs and do some finishing on a couple before they can be washed, so they've just been hanging in the closet door since I got back. Also, I need to purchase something in which to store Batgirl parts and pieces. But I have straightened up enough ( ( Read more... )

Ah, sewing... I remember when I used to do that. ;-) I enjoy reading your sewing musings - just the reading makes me want to sift through my own stash. I'm trying to plan ALEP costumes, but that requires more free time for pondering than what I have. Always getting interrupted, it seems.

Post up progress shots when you have a chance!

Ah yes, ALEP plans are already underway. I took my Arwen Angel gown trim with me last weekend to Asheville. Spent part of the drive and most of Sunday on the deck of the cabin embroidering. I'll be finishing her and doing Celeborn for it. I'll be doing good to get those done.

Of course! As soon as there's something to see. :)

I like to use the silk velvet from DharmaTrading.com, it's $12.95 per yard ($10.95 per yard if you're getting 10 or more), and you can dye the back in acid dye and the pile in fiber reactive dye. They have a black version that I think just the silk back is dyed, but not positive.

I love their silk, velvet or otherwise! But I'm kind of on a schedule that I should really just get a pre-dyed fabric.

I can't wait to get on to Celeborn where I can play with dyes again, though! I really love it even though I've had a fair share of screw ups with it. I've tried to do a charcoal grey silk velvet once before. Turned up a lovely muted amethyst. ;)
