I was just browsing the job board there and there's a job listing for someone who wants costumes based on Monopoly pieces and hundreds of other things... like a Taj Mahal children's bunkbed (in the $5000-$10000 range in NYC, I might add). I better stay away. I'll start beating myself up about all the things I want to learn but haven't had time to teach myself.

Calligraphy.... letterpress printing....

And maybe those types of things aren't on there. But still.

Sounds like a perfect way to make some extra money doing something you enjoy. :)

For sure! But I think you'd do better torturing yourself on Pinterest or Etsy for that stuff.

This place is more about consumers who know what they want and need to find an artisan to make it for them. So they go post to this job board and makers (of which I'm now one), can bid on the job. Each maker maintains a portfolio and the client can hire the best maker for the job. I don't plan to rely on it, but it's going to be an excellent outlet for commissions, which is something I wasn't getting through Etsy but something I really love to do.
