I got my bike at a securities auction- Someone had abandoned it, and after a year of not being claimed, it was sold. I bought it for $35.00 ten years ago, and while it's had a couple of hundred dollars in maintainance, it's been my bike for over 10 years.
However, if you are going to do trail cycling, you should invest in a decent bike.
Thanks! this was a very happy post. And another one should come tomorrow, or later tonight but I'm really tired already :)
We've looked at a LOT of bikes. Luckily J knows what he's looking for as he used to bike a lot, and the trails around here are pretty worn so we don't need a bike that's too heavy duty, but I definitely want one that's going to last so long as we take care of them. And I suck at making these decisions, so we'll see what happens!

I like your theory of non-numbering. Happiness for everyone!
