Oh sweet f-ing christ. I'm SICK and TIRED of people not knowing how to pronounce the name of my state.

Here's a handy little guide.
Say "or". Now say "again". (With an 'ih' sound)

Now say them together. Or-again. Place the emphasis on the "or".

Oregon. There. You've done it right.

Congratulations.

EDIT: Here. Does this help?

How *are* some people pronouncing it?

*points to Foe's comment*

That's the most common, ending it with a 'gone' sound. That usually goes hand in hand with the emphasis on the last syllable instead of the first. It's not that big of a deal, really, it's just not how people around here say it.

Oh well. I'll just deal. :)

Tsk tsk. :) If you end it with a 'gone', I shall be forced to correct you. No one around here says it like that. Most out-of-state broadcasters do though, and that's where it really starts to bother me. :)
