Fandom Angst.

I'm getting so sick of the people in this fandom. All I want to do is have honest discussions, but so many people would rather form stupid little cliques bent on reaffirming each others' self esteem ( Read more... )

angst, rant, bjd

Oh, the Volks vs. Korean thing is so silly!

But I think you're right, people get offended easily...I'm guilty of that too.

Oh, and I meant to tell you! I've been looking at your photostories and really enjoying them, sorry I'm not a very active commenter.

Eventually I hope I'll get to the point where I can sit back, breathe, and realize the people who are so highly irrating to me have names like TokyoIceTray or FluffyDollfieBunny.

Bwahahahaha! Frighteningly true.

But, sweetie, WHY do you let these things bother you so much? You must be zen, grasshopper...Do you know the koan about the warrior who had to slay himself back to the tao?

I don't know..I don't want it to. I guess I get irritated that something that can give me so much happiness (people), can give me so much frustration, too. :/ Maybe I'm just young..it really does shock me that there things that bring good are not "All good".

I don't have an easy answer or reason.

But what do you mean "the koan about the warrior who had to slay himself back to the tao"? Is that a story? ?_?

You do seem to feel some need to keep a toe in the nasty, shark-infested waters and that's probably where you should begin examining the entire phenom and how it has something to do with YOUR psyche. I always try to approach problematic issues like that - "why am I here? why do I need to be here?"

The koan is just that a zen teaching story - I'll see if I can find it for you.

Hang in there, kiddo!

Wow, I'm totally blushing here. *^^* I try to put all my good feelings into Dolly Street. I really want it to be a place for people to have fun with their dolls. It's a shame it's not more active, but maybe that's a good thing, in a way.

I must admit I find it all very entertaining. I'd like to think I've learned a lot about the nature of people by watching people squabble this way. Because, if I haven't learned anything, then I'd REALLY have to admit this is just a giant waste of time.. o_@

I know! I used to be part of the Sailor Moon fandom aaagh, and even worse, the dating sim fandom...you'd think I'd have learned. But I'm seeing some patterns emerge, about the size of the group. I'm sure a sociologst would have a field day with analyzing the interactions in a fandom. I've always wondered to what extent the typical behaviors relates to how people act "in real life".

Dating sim fandom? The Singles by any chance? X3

I know there are already professional studies of MMORPGs already!

Oh no way. XD I've never played the singles. Ones I've played are more like Tokimeki Memorial and Sentimental Graffiti. There's quite a community geared around imitating the style (they're awfully fun) and trying to release English games.

Now that I think about it, I was on a board for Dating Sims on Megatokyo, and my best friend in that fandom broke off and made a board at his site: http://www.lemmasoft.net I have no idea how active they both are nowadays, but his ended up being moreso because the first one locked discussions for every little reason. XD The admin there was a freaking crazy nazi who wouldn't date real girls because they didn't live up to his standards.

>_< yea but you know it will never stop...not until someone pops a cap in someone else. XD j/k j/k
