Tonight we've got songs from the movies. Well. Ok then.
Someone please tell me why Quentin Tarentino is giving music advice. I mean...the hell?
Allison - "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" - This is one of my all time favorite songs, and I'm really happy she's singing it. The beginning is shaky, but then she gets into it. It's not perfect...but hello, she's not Steven Tyler.
Hey, is that Katie Couric in the audience?
Anyway, the judges like it. Paula calls it authentic. Simon says that he thinks they may see Allison all the way to the end. Randy and Kara say nothing for some reason. Oh wait, I know the reason. They never have anything to contribute anyway.
Anoop - "Everything I Do, I Do It For You" - Quentin tells him to "rough it up." Dude. Have you never heard Anoop sing before? Oh well, he is the musical expert. Wait, he's not? Oh that's RIGHT. I love this song, and I love Anoop singing it. Although, he's a little sweatier tonight. Randy & Kara love it. Paula & Simon stay quiet. Ohhh...they're working in teams tonight because 4 judges is too much and takes too long to listen to all 4 of them say "You suck" in about 30948309 words.
Adam - "Born To Be Wild" - Oh gag. I feel my dinner coming up. I find that if I don't LOOK at him, I can tolerate his singing better. But there is just something physically about him that makes me feel sick to my stomach. You guys, I'm serious. You remember how badly I hated Fantasia? Yeah. This is so so different. This is physical. Something about Adam Lambert makes me want to throw up. If I don't look, it's better. Paula, of course, is all over this guy. Simon says he doesn't think this performance will be as popular as the one last week. I don't care either way. I feel ill.
Thank god for pudding.
Matt - "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman?" - Ok with the Bryan Adams tonight. But I love Matt, and I love this song. He sits at the piano and sings and it's all very sweet and nice. And I still can't tell if that's a big fat zit or a big fat mole in the center of his forehead. But that's where my eye goes to when I see him. And I'll tell ya what...Paula's all about wearing the bling tonight. Damn. But Randy and Kara rain on his parade and so we don't care what they say.
Danny - "Endless Love" - LOVE YOU DANNY!!!! Danny said he got a guitar this past week. Unlike most of the other contestants, he doesn't play guitar, so he wanted to learn. They're around music so much, it's just natural. I understand that. Oh my god. I just realized he still wears his wedding ring. [If you didn't know, Danny lost his wife, Sophia, just a month before the AI auditions. He also works at setting up the
Sophia's Heart Foundation.] And at the end of the song, he looks near tears. It made me cry. Paula loved it, of course. Simon says he thought it was a little too traditional, and was a little bored, but no one could fault the way he sang it and the emotion he put into it. I love Danny!!
Kris - "Falling Slowly" - I love this guy, too. I will admit that I'm not familiar with this song, but it's absolutely beautiful the way Kris sings it. Just a really painfully sweet performance. I mean, just....oh man. I'm going to have to go download this song now. Randy didn't get it, because you basically have to slap him in his face for him to understand anything. Kara absolutely loved it. Me too, Kara. Me too.
Lil - "The Rose" - This song? Seriously? Dios mio. I will admit, I kinda forgot Lil was still in the competition this week. Oops. Her hair is really cute this week. She takes the song gospelish in the middle. I think she should have done that the entire performance, but what do I know? Paula loved it, Simon didn't. She decides to kind of argue with Simon. "Oh sugar, you just gone and done the dumbest thing in your whole life." Bonus points if you know what movie that came from.
Tomorrow.... I'm gonna guess Anoop or Lil will be gone, but Allison or Matt may find themselves in the bottom group. I guess we'll see.
