I've been having fun with maps and state populations. I read someone say, "most of the country (i.e. the red portion) went for Romney. So I figured out the following:
Combined, the states of Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, and Utah have fewer people than Los Angeles County.
Combined, the states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahome only have about a million more people than Los Angeles County.
Not even SoCal in general - no Orange County, no Ventura County, etc. Just Los Angeles County.
There are, however, lots of cows in those red states. Though we have a good supply of those in California too.
If they mean real estate, yes, more of the country went for Romney, but the population in the blue areas is far larger than red states, as you pointed out.
Definitely real estate - but the scary/ironic thing is, a lot of the conservatives don’t “get it”. Here’s a quote from a conservative: “When you look at that election map and you see the big swaths of red and the little pockets of blue and the little pockets of blue are dictating to the big swaths of red….” http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/american-family-association-george-clooney-election-obama
