Vicky, I'm really sorry, I don't mean to offend you at all, and I'm sure Rob's a great teacher. And you're right, they do have to hire specialists sometimes that are only part-time profs. I've probably worded this part of their "demands" improperly and I apologize for that.

And we talked about the whole lower course-load thing. It's not the faculty's fault that their course load was decreased. It was forced upon them and I remember last year (while they were still under contract so no strike in the mind) that Dr. Power was not very happy with the fact that it was put down to 2 credits and that they had to hire more people. And that's the thing, they did lower it and that FORCES them to hire more part-timers.

I really don't want to get into an argument...I just wanted to get some information out there...1 cuz I was bored and 2 because I hadn't seen a lot of it out on livejournal

Don't worry, I'm not going to blow up at you or anything. I really do get where you're coming from.

I don't really get the whole "we don't want to strike, they're FORCING us!!!!!!" attitude.

I don't think professors have it as bad as they're trying to make it out. Unions to me are a synonym for greed. If you don't want to strike, if the thought of it is making you physically ill, VOTE NO! The only one who can force him to strike are other people in the union voting yes.
