Anyone here know stuff about cars? Any chance I could pretend like my radiator (not covered under the warranty on my car) issues are really transmission (which *is* covered under the warranty) issues? It seems someone fucked up repairs a while ago on the transmission lines, which are supposed to cycle transmission fluid through the radiator, and ( Read more... )

I would guess no. The real reason though is because to get anything covered by warranty, it has to be done at a dealership (it might even have to be done at the dealership where you bought the car, depending on the warranty). And my guess is that the dealership would not be willing to fix it as a transmission problem... but I don't know, they ARE transmission fluid lines. I would go there (or call the service department) and explain what's going on. And I really think you should get them to fix the A/C (you paid for it already, after all), even if it means leaving work early or getting a rental for the day or something.

In fact, THEY should pay for a rental for you for as long as it takes them to fix it.

Since I got the car from an auction lot, not a dealership, they do do repairs but they don't cover rentals. Unfortunately. Nor are they anywhere near a rental place, so the only time I can get over there without huge inconvenience is on weekends.

I plan to pursue the radiator/transmission issue from the *transmission lines* point of view, rather than the *radiator* point of view. As you said, they are transmission fluid lines...

As for the A/C, I plan to do my best to get the auction lot to fix it -- they did say they would, after all. Fuckers.
