Worse than a girlfriend

I found out Saturday that my car had a flat tire. This morning the other tire was flat, too. When the tow guy arrived to take me and my money pit on wheels to the garage to have the tires checked, he told me the screechy steering I've been dealing with the past two weeks since the weather got cold was because of a problem with the power steering ( Read more... )

I reeeeally can't afford this now, but I need the power steering fixed before the snow starts because I can't afford for it to crap out on me while I'm on a slushy highway.

Thank you! I'm so saving my pennies and getting another Nissan next time around.

Good idea! Ugh, I'm so sorry about all this, endless car repair expenses are so awful in so many ways.
My Nissan and I are celebrating our 7-year anniversary around now, and it has over 200,000 miles on it, so despite needing repairs every so often, it's been pretty good to me as "money pits on wheels" go. Hope you find an affordable one.

Back when I was shopping for a car in May, someone asked me why I didn't just spend "another couple thousand dollars" to get another Nissan. At the time, I flat out didn't have another couple thousand dollars and needed a car, pronto, so I ended up with the money pit on wheels.

By now, I've spent almost a thousand bucks -- the difference between getting a "needs work" Nissan and this Hyundai -- on repairs to this car. Hindsight, you are a big ol' bitch.

*arrrrggh!*

i also had a mysteriously flat tire this weekend. it was completely deflated when i walked over to my mobile on sunday morning.

this is the 3rd flat i have had in about a year, plus i bought 4 new tires over the summer.

i HATE having a car. if i could manage some kind of mass transit to/from work (that doesn't take 2 hours), i would get rid of it.

And I thought I had shitty luck with my car!

I hate having a car, and hate driving, but considering how often my subway line is not running or runs only to a certain point I can't really avoid driving. Oh yeah, and I need access to a car all day during the week for work. So getting rid of it is truly out of the question.
