And another thing...

I have a problem with the coffee cart guy across the street from my internship. Yesterday I was the only one in line for coffee, and in an attempt to get more money out of me he said, "I have low-fat muffins, too." WTF? He didn't mention the bagels or croissants or danishes he also sells. It made me pause ( Read more... )

Herm, I NEVER get asked about low fat/healthy options. Maybe they take one look at me and say "DAMN! THAT GIRL EATS! NO LOW FAT FOR HER!"

But yea, I HATE it when men make sexist assumptions...I tend to work w/engineers (as you know) and you CANNOT BELIEVE the crap that comes out of their mouths most days!

And I totally agrre w/Betchka! It annoys me to no end when girls play up that 'I'm fat' stereotype. I remember when I worked for all the Euro trashies in Boston, if we brought in doughnuts to the office, they'd all wail that they simply couldn't even **look** at them without gaining weight (this from girls who were all size negative 6), but if I got doughnut holes, then they'd sneak one bite. SHEESH! Body image issues suck...

when i'm out to eat with a girlfriend who is smaller than me, the server will usually give her the "healthier" meal and me the "fattening" meal, even though we usually order the other way around. but when i'm out to eat with bill, he'll get the manly fattening meal, and i'll get the girly healthy one, even though he is skinny and i am not. i wish most servers would ask who got what before they guess and make me mad and them look stupid.

i usually decline going out to lunch with the secretary in our office because she always complains that there is too much food and it's so fattening and blah blah blah. i just want to enjoy my food and not feel like a bad person because i'm not complaining about how fat it will make me.

I don't think he was commenting on your size either, not that it makes a difference either way. So lame. When I was talking to a guy who was in my department in undergrad about running, he was like "oh you're trying to lose weight? well you should yaddayaddayadda as well." Did it ever occur to you that I JUST LIKE TO RUN?

Hope you don't mind that I added you :)
