Moving Day

Today is my last day in my house, I'm moving into my dorm in Chicago tomorrow. I couldn't sleep last night, not because I was going to miss my family or even my room really. Nope. Shoko-sensei, my Japanese teacher. <3 God I miss Tuesday Japanese class ( Read more... )

I don't know about the school you're going to, but most schools in cities that I toured when I was college shopping (with the notable exception of U.C. Berkley) have somewhat enclosed areas that are much more college-student oriented. Everything you'd need in such an area would be accessible by foot (or campus shuttle if it's a big school) and typically crime rates are lower, the general feel is younger and less intimidating and more diverse. The school I went to had an actual hill that was the hill the college students lived on (up in our ivory towers, ha ha) and the rest of the city was a good ten minutes' walk down said hill, and had a very different flavor.

So it's not necessarily like you're going to Chicago, so much as you're going to your school's campus, a sort of town within a city. Chicago's just really conveniently local.

At least I hope. Maybe you're going to something like Berkley.
