ok.... community services finally called before my class this evening.
i have a meeting thursday at 9:30am with my supervisor and her supervisor, so we can get things rolling. *FINALLY*.

anyways. its pretty stormy in halifax right now. but, class wasn't cancelled even tho there were only a fraction of us there. i think i'm starting to find social ( Read more... )

By including prostitution there, I hope you mean the unsafe kind and not the sex industry as a whole, which employs far more people of ALL genders than you realize.

i was refering to those people in the sex trade who are there solely for financial reasons. in order to make a living they resort to selling themselves.
i'm sure there are people who may choose that way of life, and thats fine for them. i'm more concerned about those who are forced into it because they have no other opportunities.
also, gender didn't come into it for me. i know both men and women and transsexuals and so on are part of the sex indrusty. hence why i said "people" :P.

i'm not pretending to have lots of knowledge of the sex industry, i just included it as one type of thing people resort to because of poverty that can be dangerous on many levels.

Yep. Social policy needs a whole lot of ranting. Not that any one is listening. I have a whole lot of problems with EI, social assitance and health care from a few different stories I've heard this past year. Government sucks but they'll never please everyone.
