whoa!

Very strange to have logged on, after all these months. Getting to catch up on the words of my friends was overdue... I think we write less personally on Facebook, and the level of openness on LiveJournal took me by surprise. I don't think it's changed-- I'd just forgotten about how much we trust each other. I think that's a beautiful thing ( Read more... )

For me, my openness is acquired honestly. My family is extremely open and up front and it was just the way I was raised. If you are thinking about something, or something is on your mind, you will talk about it, get input and feedback and then either DO something about it, or let it go. When I became a more public person in the SCA, it took me a while to realize that anything I said publicly could potentially be like using a megaphone to shout to the world and that can be really embarrassing for others. It took me a while to realize how unusual it really is to be as open as I am, about my life, my sexuality, what I think. I still think it is a shame that more people are not comfortable enough with themselves and their choices to be an open book; but it is actually pretty uncommon for exactly the reason you imply... it can seem impolite to others (TMI! TMI! Is a popular saying that sums up how some feel).

Iloveyouman! Still hoping to get down there and see you guys! I've finally got plans finalized to head south, so perhaps I can stop in and visit on my way... that would be early April... would you guys be up for that?

I too have found myself coming back to LJ, and not spending much time on Facebook at the like....Facebook is great for reconnecting, but the group of friends I have on here are much nearer and dearer to me!

I like the phone and personal visits :;HINT::
seriously tho- it's easier for me to check facebook for quick updates, LJ for explanations to what's going on in my friends heads.. But I seriously like phone calls best..
The medium of social networking sites helps keep me in the loop- so I don't feel so alienated from friends who are living either far away, busy and on different life paths..

It's good to see you posting. I know that I use my LJ account for more personal stuff (most of it screened to just be mine to look back on). Take care of yourself, and not just Stouffers!
