Yesterday, on my way home from work, we got stuck with a short bus. By "short" I mean that it was an older bus, and not as long. Compared to the buses that they normally run, it's got seating for maybe 20 fewer people

The Metro Detroit area is large enough that a public transportation system based solely on buses seems ungainly. I've long thought that we need some sort of commuter light rail or similar system around Metro Detroit to cover the major thoroughfares, then a bus system to cover the rest. Who knows, perhaps one day the auto companies will be powerless enough that this might actually happen.
